Goliad, Texas. $10 1902 Date Back. Fr. 619. First NB. Charter #4565. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30. Best known for the infamous Goliad Massacre perpetrated by Mexican forces under the command of Antonio López de Santa Anna, Goliad is nonetheless a tough locale for National Bank Notes. Served by two different National Bank between 1891 and 1935, the First National Bank (Charter# 4565) is by far the most "common" of the two with 27 non-institutional notes recorded here by the National Bank Note Census where this exact note stands among a small number of survivors for this short-lived type spawned by the Aldrich-Vreeland legislation passed in 1908. Here one may behold bold color and superb detail that collectively offer a sight that makes the grade assigned seem conservative in relative terms. PCGS Banknote comments "Bank Signatures Faded." Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
