Discovery Zone 23°33’ North 08°06’ West These nuggets come from the desert region of Tiris Zemmour in northern Mauritania, more than a hundred kilometers from an area called Guelb Ndour. Gold mining in this country used to be reserved for large industrial companies. But since 2016 individual prospecting is authorized using metal detectors. I offer them as I found them; I have only cleaned them with soapy water. The gold from this region is fairly pure; generally its fineness is around 950 to 980 parts per thousand, which corresponds to 22.80 to 23.50 carats. Although gold mining has become one of Mauritania’s main resources, nuggets are quite rare because almost all the gold is melted into ingots that are then sent to Dubai. All photos are taken in natural daylight. I photographed these nuggets as honestly and precisely as possible, using daylight. Please note that differences in screen settings and ambient lighting can lead to variations in color, saturation and perceived tones. The nuggets you receive are, of course, the ones shown in the photos. I ship quickly, securely and discreetly in a C5 non-bendable envelope (162mm x 229mm) by La Poste registered mail.
