“Girl in the Chair”, Signed Josep Clara, Catalan School, 20th Century

Descriptio Bronze sculpture. Dimensions: 23 x 13 x 12 cm. It depicts a girl twisted on a chair, in a playful pose that accentuates the figure’s dynamism. The artist achieves a great naturalness through fluid, rounded modeling, highlighting the volume of the child’s body and the contrast between the solidity of the seat and the grace of her movement. The dark patina and nuances of the metal provide luminous depth and tactile sensation. In this piece, Josep Clara, a master of Mediterranean classicism, combines sensitive observation with the search for formal harmony, a characteristic feature of 20th-century Catalan sculpture.
