Origin: From a private collection; Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola (known simply as Il Vignola, born in Vignola 1507 – died in Rome in 1573) was one of the most important architects and theorists of Italian Mannerism. Pietro Marchetti (often listed on title pages as Pietro Marchetti For. in Siena) was an important Italian bookseller, publisher and prints dealer, active in Siena in the first half of the 17th century. Pietro Marchetti lived from the late 16th to the first half of the 17th century. He operated in Siena, then part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, a cultural center that, although no longer independent, maintained a lively artistic, artisanal and academic tradition (linked particularly to the University and the Academy of the Rozzi).
