Quite a large Tibetan pilgrim box with an amulet. On the front are Buddhist symbols (ashtamangala), including the conch, the endless knot, and the lotus. At the bottom center is the protective deity Mahakala. In the ghau sits a Buddha amulet. Pilgrim Buddhas (ghaus) are carried in the textile, specially crafted pouch during treks through the Himalayas. This ghau is not very full, causing the little pane/compartment to sit a bit loose. You won’t notice this when you set the ghau down, but if you want to travel with it, it rattles a bit. A button is missing.. Dimensions: height approx. 18 cm, width approx. 14.5 cm, thickness approx. 5 cm. Acquired in situ during a trip in 2018/2019. Carefully packed and shipped with a track and trace code.
