Berlin. 10 Marks. 1969. - Value: 10 Marks. - Year: 1969. - Inscriptions: Obverse: DEUTSCHE DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK · 1969 · 10 MARK. - Reverse: JOHANN FRIEDRICH BÖTTGER · 1682–1719. - Grade: MS63 (PCGS). Silver commemorative coin issued for the 250th anniversary of the death of Johann Friedrich Böttger. The obverse features the emblem of the GDR —hammer and compass surrounded by ears of grain—, while the reverse shows a stylized porcelain jug and the Meissen crossed-swords emblem. The specimen retains a satin luster, well-defined reliefs, and small scattered marks in keeping with the MS63 grade. Böttger was a key figure in the development of the first European hard-paste porcelain. Initially 100,313 pieces were minted, of which 33,661 were melted, leaving an effective issue of 66,652 specimens.
