Gerhard Richter (1932) - Signierte Art Card “Ema – Akt...

This rare and coveted Art Card, hand-signed by Gerhard Richter, features one of his most famous works: “Ema (Nude on a Staircase)” from 1966. The art card is hand-signed in black ink by Gerhard Richter on the lower section. About the work The life-size painting “Ema (Nude on a Staircase)” from 1966 shows Richter’s then-wife Ema (Ema Kutsch), naked, barefoot and with lowered gaze, descending a staircase. The depiction is characterized by the photographically sharp focus Richter is known for, while the soft contours and flowing transitions give the figure an almost dreamlike appearance, as if viewing the scene through a light fog. With this motif, Richter also references Marcel Duchamp’s famous painting “Nude Descending a Staircase,” yet interprets the theme in his own distinctive way. Framing: The work is high-quality framed, floating on canvas in a double, customized thick (acid-free) mat, set in a handmade white wooden frame to size. The glazing consists of high-quality Plexiglas Optical HC, offering UV protection, scratch resistance, and low light reflection. Framed size including frame approximately 54 x 44 cm. About the artist: Gerhard Richter (born 1932 in Dresden) ranks among the most internationally significant artists of post-war and contemporary German art. His exceptionally versatile oeuvre includes photorealistic paintings, abstract works, landscapes, portraits and works on paper. Since the early 1960s, Richter has been deeply exploring the relationship between photography and painting. His famous technique of deliberate blur makes familiar motifs appear both realistic and detached. In doing so, he questions how images are created, how reliable our perception is, and what role photographs play in our memory. In addition to his figurative works, Richter developed an extensive abstract oeuvre where color, chance, and painterly processes take center stage. His works are in numerous major international museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Gerhard Richter remains one of the most sought-after artists of his generation. PACKAGING & SHIPPING Shipping is carried out exclusively insured and with Track & Trace.
