Original vintage Air France travel poster designed by renowned French abstract painter Georges Mathieu (1921-2012) in 1967 to promote travel to Mexico. The striking composition features Mathieu's characteristic gestural, calligraphic abstraction, with a central form inspired by pre-Columbian Mexican and stylized Maya imagery set against a vivid red ground. Bold passages of black, gold, orange, green, and blue create an energetic image characteristic of Mathieu's Lyrical Abstraction style. Signed in the image at lower left and prominently inscribed "Mexico" and "AIR FRANCE." The design formed part of Mathieu's celebrated series of destination posters commissioned by Air France and unveiled in 1967. Size: 31" W x 47" H.
