Kaiser Lamp Object description Object: Classic Bauhaus desk lamp with authorities provenance Model: Kaiser idell, model 6556 ("Commissioner Lamp") Designer: Christian Dell Manufacturer: Gebr. Kaiser & Co., Neheim-Hüsten, Germany Dating: circa 1930s to 1950s Details & construction: Sheet metal and tubular arm, black lacquer. Round, heavy base with integrated cream-white push switch. Adjustable reflector shade over a ball joint, swiveling arm at the base joint. One-lamp version, with original E27 socket. Feature / Provenance: On the shade dome there is a contemporary inventory tag with the inscription “POLITIE” (Dutch police), which indicates its historical use in a police or government office in the Netherlands. Condition Report: * Marking: On the top of the shade dome the imprint “ORIGINAL KAISER-idell” is clearly visible and fully legible. * Lacquering & body: Authentic original condition with charming patina. There are superficial scratches and light lacquer wear on the shade dome and at the base. The white reflector interior of the shade shows age-related wear and minimal discoloration, but is well preserved. No major dents. * Mechanism: The joints and screws are fully retained and fully functional. * Electrical: The original push switch is present. The two-core brown plastic cable is fitted with a newer plug.
