Gaumont, ? Détective Analogue camera

Rare glass-plate camera of the 'Detective' type, dating from around 1900. The camera is built of leather-grained wood with nickel fittings and features several viewfinders as well as a lens mounted on the front. It is accompanied by its original carrying case as well as twelve 9 × 12 cm plate holders, comprising a particularly complete set and one that has become difficult to find. The mechanisms appear complete. Photographic tests have not been carried out given the age of the set. A very beautiful collector's item illustrating the early days of portable photography at the turn of the 20th century. Condition as shown in the photographs, with a fine original patina. The aesthetic condition is good for its age (see photographs). Mechanical operation has not been tested with photographic plates.
