Atmospheric and particularly decorative oil painting on canvas, depicting a richly assembled still life with flowers, fruit and a basket. The composition is dominated by a strong bouquet in pink, reddish-brown and soft purple tones. In the foreground lie citrus fruits and dark grapes, while on the right a woven basket closes the scene. The painter deliberately chose a subdued, almost misty color palette, giving the work a warm and intimate appearance. Especially the flowers are painted with a conspicuously free and expressive brushwork. The lighter brushstrokes stand beautifully against the dark vase and background. The combination of soft gray, warm red-orange fruit and deep purple hues gives the still life a very appealing, classical look. Bottom right the painting is signed, presumably with the initials/name “G. v. Os.” The signature is clearly visible on the original paint surface.
