French school (XX) - Bouquet de fleurs au vase bleu

This still life of flowers from the French School of the 20th century stands out for its harmonious composition and its rich, nuanced color palette. A generous bouquet of flowers in yellow, ocher, orange, red and pink tones blooms in a deep blue bulbous vase, animated by brown undertones and subtle plays of light. The dark background highlights the radiance of the flowers and underscores the depth of the composition. The pictorial treatment is characterized by a free and confident brushwork, visible impasto, and a generous materiality, particularly noticeable in the rendering of petals and foliage. The balance between the warm colours of the bouquet, the cool tones of the vase, and the greenish-blue of the table testifies to a pronounced chromatic exploration. The whole presents affinities with post-impressionist sensibility, notably in the freedom of gesture and the emphasis given to color. Presented in an elegant gilded wooden frame with carved decoration, this composition is part of the tradition of French floral painting of the 20th century and offers a timeless decorative presence, suited both to a classic interior and to a contemporary environment.
