All auctions / Miscellaneous / French school (XVIII-XIX) - A pair of pastoral scenes - pendant (2)

A beautiful and refined set of two (pendant) classical paintings in the romantic, pastoral style. The works exude the atmosphere of 18th-century French masters such as Antoine Watteau or François Boucher. The first work features three young figures in stylish clothing, relaxing in an idyllic forest landscape. In the foreground is a lively scene of roosters, hens and a duck near the water. The second work, a rural idyll with goats. Three figures enjoying nature. One of the ladies is leading a goat, while dogs in the foreground complete the rural scene. Includes two matching, heavy gilded wooden/plaster quality frames with rounded corners and ornate pearl-border details. The works thus form a perfectly fitting pair. The frames have bowed glass for the works. Condition: For its age in good condition. With signs of use/wear. A crack in the lower-left corner of the glass on one of the works. Provenance: - Veilinghuis Derksen, Arnhem • The KraWienArt Collection •
