FRENCH COLONIES. 1767-A Sou. Paris Mint. Breen-700. No RF Counterstamp. AU-50 (PCGS). OGH. Handsome autumn-orange and rose-brown patina on surfaces that are impressively smooth during in-hand appreciation. A trace of microgranularity is of no concern, and there are no troublesome post-production marks or other blemishes. The obverse is a tad soft overall, but all major design elements are appreciable, reverse shaper except at upper right periphery, where the letters LONIES in COLONIES are soft and there is no border denticulation. (PCGS has mounted this coin backwards in the holder.) A number of shallow planchet striations at right reverse are as made and light enough to be overlooked in most viewing situations. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 158651. NGC ID: 2AYL. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
