These ornithologists, scientists, naturalist illustrators and artists were born in Haminalahti near Kuopio, Finland. Magnus and Wilhelm von Wright began the illustrated work Svenska Foglar ("Birds of Sweden") in August 1828. The work was financed by Count Nils Bonde. It was completed in 1838 and contains 178 lithographs. The von Wright family is a noble Swedish-Finnish family founded by the Scotsman George Wright, who emigrated from Dundee to Narva in Estonia governed by Sweden, in the mid-17th century.
