Fratelli Montina - Silvio Coppola

Fratelli Montina - Silvio Coppola

Silvio Coppola for Fratelli Montina — Dining Set with Hexagonal Table and Six Matching Chairs — Italy, 1970s An ensemble with a strong architectural presence, in which the geometry of the table and the enveloping forms of the six chairs create a coherent and distinctive example of 1970s Italian design. Designed by Silvio Coppola for Fratelli Montina, the set combines the tactile character of ash wood with the warm tones of camel-coloured leather. The table features a hexagonal top with a characteristic triangular configuration and truncated corners, supported by a sculptural base. A removable central panel conceals a compartment with a metal tray, a distinctive detail that adds to the functionality and character of the design. The six matching chairs echo the table’s design language through solid wood frames, rounded profiles and leather-upholstered backrests. The balance between structural solidity and soft contours gives the ensemble a substantial presence, suitable for a dining room, professional office or reception space. Three of the six chairs retain their original Fratelli Montina labels, contributing to the documentation of the ensemble. The table and matching chairs are documented in the Silvio Coppola Archive as part of the project developed in 1972 and introduced into production in 1973. These dates refer to the history of the design; the present ensemble is offered as a 1970s production. The availability of the table together with six matching chairs makes this lot particularly appealing to collectors, architects and interior designers seeking a complete ensemble capable of defining a space through its materials, proportions and design identity.
