Frantz Jardel explores in his works feelings and moments of life, a part of the observation and perception of the world around him. His works are often playful and convey a bit of humor, but also critical statements that the spectator is encouraged to think about backstage. Often, his canvases are treated with a sharp brush, or fine lines appear like large characters on the canvas, and his work is sprinkled with a power of communication. There is an immediate message in each of the paintings despite or perhaps because of their random and spontaneous compositions. He paints very colorful characters and situations because his inner world is in perpetual and constant motion. His inspiration came from Jean-Michel Basquiat, but he is also impressed by Julian Schnabel, Jackson Pollock, or even the South Korean Joey Unlee for his relationship with matter. With Black Rock City, I question the place of the individual in the collective. The silhouettes under their umbrellas evoke protection, isolation and belonging at the same time. The intense red and turquoise blue make a composition vibrate, traversed by words, traces and fragments of images. By blending acrylic, oil pastels, and spray paint, I confront the fragility of the figures with the energy of the gesture. The notions of gift and radical inclusion become the throughline of a reflection on the freedom to be oneself among others.
