Suggested title Franklin Mint – Duchess of Windsor Panther Bracelet – Genuine Ebony – 4 Genuine Rubies – 22K Gold Plated – After Cartier 1. Description Offered here is the striking Franklin Mint “The Duchess of Windsor Panther Bracelet”, an elaborate collector’s jewellery piece inspired by the celebrated panther jewels associated with Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, and the famous designs of Cartier. This substantial vintage bracelet combines genuine black ebony, richly sculpted panther heads, 22-karat gold-plated decorative elements and four genuine rubies forming the animals’ eyes. The deep black ebony creates a particularly elegant contrast with the warm gold finish, while the ruby eyes give the opposing panther heads a dramatic appearance. The bracelet features: - Genuine black ebony body - Two fully sculpted panther heads - 22-karat gold-plated fittings and decorative elements - Four genuine rubies, two in each panther head - Black spotted detailing to the heads - Decorative interlocking ring construction between the open jaws - Hinged opening - Integrated clasp - Elaborately modelled three-dimensional decoration The workmanship is especially impressive around the panther heads, with individually defined ears, muzzles, open mouths, textured surfaces and contrasting dark markings. This is not an official Cartier piece, but a Franklin Mint interpretation inspired by the famous Cartier panther jewellery associated with the Duchess of Windsor. Approximate dimensions - External dimensions: approx. 8.5 × 7.0 cm - Internal dimensions: approx. 6.0 × 5.0 cm - Inner circumference: approx. 17 cm - Ebony band width: approx. 1.5–1.8 cm The measurements are approximate and may vary slightly depending on the measuring point. Condition The bracelet is in very good vintage collector’s condition. Minor age-related traces may be present, consistent with a piece dating from the late 1980s. The photographs form an essential part of the condition report and show the actual item offered. Please inspect all images carefully before bidding. 2. The Duchess of Windsor and the Panther Design The panther became one of the most recognisable motifs in twentieth-century jewellery. It is particularly associated with Cartier and with Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, whose extraordinary jewellery collection included several celebrated panther pieces. Franklin Mint created its own interpretation of this famous jewellery tradition during the late 1980s. Surviving examples of this bracelet are known with the FM87 marking, referring to Franklin Mint and the 1987 design period. The dramatic combination of black, gold and ruby red gives the bracelet the visual character of high jewellery while retaining the distinctive Franklin Mint collector aesthetic. Today, examples appeal not only to Franklin Mint collectors, but also to enthusiasts of: - Vintage statement jewellery - Panther and animal jewellery - Duchess of Windsor memorabilia - Cartier-inspired design - Decorative collector’s jewellery The use of genuine ebony and four genuine rubies, together with the elaborate sculptural design, makes this one of Franklin Mint’s more distinctive jewellery creations. 3.
