This beautiful late 19th-century statue in regule on a pedestal is a work by the sculptor Hyppolite Moreau (1832-1926). It depicts a fisherman moving his boat with a pole. A mast with a rolled sail as well as an anchor placed on the deck complete the ensemble. For a bit of history, it should be noted that this character is the faithful reproduction of a bronze sculpture by the same artist, identically portraying this fisherman with a pole accompanied by a woman positioned behind him in place of the mast! The whole was displayed on a pedestal with a clock. This reproduction is interesting coming from this sculptor known for his works of medium size and decorative objects in bronze, regule, and tin. Bolted to an oval wooden pedestal measuring 24 cm by 21 cm, it stands 54 cm tall and weighs 6.5 kg. The statue is complete, with no missing parts except for a few minute traces of the silver color of the regule."
