The first of a total of seven editions appeared in 1816, initially with 33 sheets; seven additional sheets were added in later editions. Sheet #24ßß7 was produced in outstanding quality in 1923 as a copperplate print (a total of 43 copperplate prints) in the Hugo Schmidt Verlag (Munich) by Hugo Kehrer. Only 500 copies were issued. Goya’s masterful graphic realization of his fantasies shows, with Sheet #7, the origin of the banderillas, through the use of the Moors in bullfighting.
