FRANCIS NICHOLSON (BRITISH 1753-1844) A PAPER MILL NEAR RICHMOND, YORKSHIRE Watercolour over pencil Signed, inscribed and dated 'A paper mill near Richmond, Yorkshire / F Nicholson, 1810' (on a fragment of old backing attached to the backboard) 37 x 51cm (14½ x 20in.) Provenance: Andrew Wyld, London, 2007, no. 767 WS Sale, Sworders, Stansted Mountfitchet, Oil Paintings, Watercolours, Prints, Jewellery, Silver, Textiles, Rugs, 26 July 2006, lot 729 From a Deceased Estate Condition Report: The sheet is in good overall condition, there is some fading to the more delicate pigments. There is a small nick to the centre of the left hand edge and some spots of old restoration visible in the sky on close examination. some scattered light foxing visible in the sky, though this does not detract from the image. The watercolour is fitted into an acid free mount and could be hung without further attention. The watercolour was not taken out of the frame in the preparation of this report.
