France - Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur; Becquet

The scene shows the ironclad Magenta enveloped by a gigantic column of fire and smoke in the harbor of Toulon. Several lifeboats surround the hull to rescue the crew, while in the background the profiles of the coastal mountains and other ships moored in the port rise up. The condition of preservation is fair to good Several small brown stains of moisture and paper oxidation are visible, particularly on the white lower margin (below the caption) and in the upper left of the sky.
