5 Francs Napoléon III – 1868 BB – Strasbourg French silver 5-franc coin, struck in 1868 under the Second Empire, depicting Napoleon III with a laureate head. Obverse: portrait of Napoleon III facing left, wearing a laurel crown. Inscription "NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR". Barre signature beneath the portrait. Reverse: French imperial crowned heraldry, surrounded by the Legion of Honour collar, with crossed sceptre and hand of justice. Inscription "EMPIRE FRANÇAIS", value 5 F and year 1868. Atelier BB – Strasbourg. * Silver 900 ‰ * Theoretical weight: 25 g * Diameter: about 37 mm * Edge: raised inscription "DIEU PROTÈGE LA FRANCE" * Era: Second Empire – Napoleon III (1852-1870) Coin showing wear traces and small marks consistent with its age. The reliefs are still clearly legible and the overall appearance is homogeneous.
