French 5-franc silver coin, struck in 1831 under the July Monarchy, depicting King Louis-Philippe I. Obverse: portrait of Louis-Philippe I facing right, wearing a crown of oak leaves. Legend “LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS.” Engraver’s signature DOMARD F. below the portrait. Reverse: denomination 5 FRANCS and the year 1831, surrounded by a wreath of laurel and olive branches tied at the base. Mint: K – Bordeaux. * Silver: 900 ‰ * Theoretical weight: 25 g * Diameter: about 37 mm * Engraver: Joseph-François Domard * Era: July Monarchy – Louis-Philippe I (1830-1848) * Mint: Bordeaux (K) Circulated specimen, displaying an antique patina as well as signs of wear and small marks of use consistent with its age. The portrait, legends and date remain legible. A fine 19th-century French coin from the Bordeaux mint.
