All auctions / Books, Maps & Manuscripts / France - Atlas of the departments of France; A.H DOUFOUR...
Dimensions 63 x 86 cm - The map was drawn by the famous French cartographer Auguste-Henri Dufour (1798–1865) - • Cartographer: Auguste-Henri Dufour (1798-1865) • Title of the map: Département de la Corse • Source work: Atlas Départemental de la France / La France illustrée • Year: c. 1840 - 1855 • Total sheet dimensions: 63 x 86 cm (Large format) • Technique: Metal engraving with contemporaneous colorizing of the borders. • Condition: Very good / Excellent. The front of the map presents an exceptionally pristine aesthetic state, extremely fresh, clean and free of tears or stains marring the drawing. On the back there is the typical contemporaneous conservation reinforcement along the central fold (editorial joining strip) and two small support patches at the margins, done to preserve the integrity of the large sheet over time. Sound and complete editorial margins. An excellent collectible specimen, solid and ready to be framed. (See the complete photo gallery, including the back photo, for a proper assessment)- A slight old stain from humidity residue on the paper reinforcement at the back is noted, entirely historical and perfectly dry, which in no way affects the paper’s integrity nor the engraved front. •Shipping in a rigid plastic tube that can be attached at the center and shipping via Italian Post using trackable registered mail both in Italy and in Europe.
