All auctions / Coins & Banknotes / France. 5 Francs 1834/1851 (3 stuks) (No reserve price)

These are three French silver 5-franc coins from the reign of King Louis-Philippe I (1830–1848): • Left, 1831: the early type with the bare head (design Tiolier). Next to the year there appears to be a B, which would be the Rouen mint. For this type the edge inscription is also important (“DIEU PROTÈGE LA FRANCE” in relief or incuse), since that partly determines the value. • Middle and right, 1834: the later type with the laureated head (design Domard). The mint mark is at the bottom under the bow; on the right one it seems to be a W (Lille).
