Frame (2)- Louis XVI - Brass, Crystal - Dorados in Ormolú style

Elegant pair of nineteenth-century French decorative picture frames, inspired by the Louis XVI and Empire styles. These refined pieces stand out for the sobriety of their architectural lines and the delicacy of their embellishments in ormolu gilt brass, a technique widely valued in the decorative arts of the era. The frames feature a rectangular bevelled glass structure, whose transparency and simplicity allow the images or miniature portraits to be displayed prominently. The decoration is concentrated on the upper finials, formed by delicate pierced applications of Neoclassical inspiration. One of them showcases a composition of acanthus leaves and stylized scrolls, while the other incorporates interlaced ribbons and ornamental motifs inspired by the decorative repertoires of the Louis XVI period. Both pieces rest on small spherical supports in gilt brass that provide stability and elegance. The ormolu gilding maintains an attractive warm tone that harmoniously contrasts with the transparency of the glass and lends the overall ensemble a distinguished aristocratic character. The combination of bevelled glass and gilded ornamentation reflects the refined taste of nineteenth-century bourgeois and aristocratic interiors, objects conceived both for displaying family portraits and for decorating dressing tables, desks, and drawing rooms. Condition: good overall, with wear, small oxidations, and signs of use commensurate with their age. The brass retains a beautiful antique patina and the decorative elements maintain good definition and aesthetic presence. Pieces of great decorative and collector’s charm, representative of French Neoclassical elegance of the nineteenth century. Tracked shipping with careful packaging.
