Elegant pair of photo frame stands belonging to the French decorative tradition of the 19th century, inspired by the Louis XVI and Empire styles. These refined pieces stand out for the sobriety of their architectural lines and for the delicacy of their ornaments in gilded brass ormolu, a resource widely appreciated in the decorative arts of the period. The frames present a rectangular structure of bevelled crystal, whose transparency and simplicity allow the images or miniatures intended to be displayed to be enhanced. The decoration concentrates on the upper caps, formed by fine openwork applications in neoclassical inspiration. One of them features a composition of acanthus leaves and stylized scrolls, while the other incorporates interlaced ribbons and ornamental motifs inspired by the decorative repertoires of the Louis XVI period. Both pieces rest on small spherical supports of gilded brass that provide stability and elegance. The ormolu gilding preserves an attractive warm tone that harmoniously contrasts with the transparency of the crystal and lends a distinguished aristocratic character to the whole. The combination of bevelled crystal and gilded ornamentation reflects the refined taste of bourgeois and aristocratic interiors of the 19th century, being objects conceived both for displaying family portraits and for decorating vanities, desks, and living rooms. Condition: good overall condition, with wear, small oxidations and signs of use in keeping with their age. The brass retains a beautiful antique patina and the decorative elements maintain good definition and aesthetic presence.
