Fr. 51. 1880 $2 Legal Tender Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Seldom seen when held against the successive Series of 1917. All $2 Legal Tender Notes issued under the Series of 1880 offer a scarce sight in comparison even for signature combinations and Friedberg Numbers that may be considered "common." This particular example though is a representative of the Bruce - Gilfillan signature combination from the 1880s making it a somewhat scarce Friedberg Number for this long-lived series imprint. Yet this piece offers much more that can be appreciated. From the grade assigned by PMG to the eye appeal of the note itself which provides a fine contrast against the earlier Series of 1869 and the ever-common Series of 1917, it takes little to figure that this is the perfect example for the collector-minded individual.
