Fr. 278. 1899 $5 Silver Certificate. PCGS Banknote Choice About Uncirculated

Fr. 278. 1899 $5 Silver Certificate. PCGS Banknote Choice About Uncirculated 58 PPQ. A staple of numismatic interest and a design coveted by many dealers and collectors. This lightly circulated example of an iconic and long-lived design that was originally introduced as part of the Series of 1899 stands distinct and uncommonly attractive for one at this grade level. Essentially a textbook example of the grading standards often elaborated in detail by numismatic texts and various websites such as PCGS Banknote and PMG. Bidders and collectors are met here by signs of faint technical circulation consistent with a numerical grade of "58" while apparent originality is demonstrated throughout speaking effectively to the applied PPQ designation for "Premium Paper Quality" that remains surprisingly scarce even at this grade level. Held together overall and it takes little to reason that this piece is no doubt a fine outlier among its circulated peers and one destined to command a series of strong bids. Estimate: $3,500 - $5,500. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.

Estimate:$2,100
