Fr. 224. 1896 $1 Silver Certificate. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. Already a testament to one of the most popular designs ever put to print by the Bureau of Engraving & Printing during its heyday in the 1890s. This note cuts a distinct impression bound to be appreciated by bidders even with a single comment noted by PMG. Yet even though much can be said about the popularity that follows the Series of 1896 and the symbolism each design represents, this consideration is at least overshadowed here by the material condition of this specimen. Assigned a grade of Choice Uncirculated 63 by PMG, this example offers a detailed look at the vignette History Instructing Youth that has become a favorite of collectors. Here History is seated atop a marble plinth and is seen here instructing Youth on the finer points of the Constitution with both the Potomac River and District of Columbia seen directly in the background while the overall design beckons with a level of color and detail that should readily inspire bidders. PMG comments "Pinholes." Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.

Estimate:$1,200
