Fr. 2211-C. 1934 Light Green Seal $1000 Federal Reserve Note. Philadelphia.

A Visual Stunner from the Philadelphia District Fr. 2211-C. 1934 Light Green Seal $1000 Federal Reserve Note. Philadelphia. PCGS Banknote Choice Uncirculated 63. By no means is this your typical $1000 Federal Reserve Note issued under the Series of 1934. Representative of the Philadelphia district, this example is not only impressive on account of the grade assigned by PCGS Banknote or the inherent eye appeal. Instead, one must look to the Treasury overprint to understand what makes this note impressive in overall terms. Overprinted in a shade of green that was discontinued during the 1930s, bidders may look upon a coloration that has consistently commanded the attention of collectors for decades. Dubbed "Light Green" in auction catalogs and reference material, the nature of this coloration is extremely attractive by virtue of the contrast it creates against the "Dark Green" encountered on most Federal Reserve Notes issued under the Series of 1934. Yet when one holds these very traits against the standards of the grade assigned, it effectively pushes this note into territory that may be considered "exceptional" which should no doubt command the interest of the high-denomination specialist long before this note even officially crosses the auction block.
