Fr. 18. 1869 $1 Legal Tender Note. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20.

Fr. 18. 1869 $1 Legal Tender Note. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20. A rather sound and colorful example of this desirable series imprint. Bidders have here for their consideration an evenly circulated $1 Legal Tender Note issued under the Series of 1869 which offers firm testament to the "Rainbow" moniker readily encountered in auction catalogs and reference material. Here rich oceanic blues reflective of the paper-making process favored by the Wilcox Company cut a fine contrast against both microprinted expressions of the word "ONE" repeated dozens of time and the red Treasury overprint. Yet one must also consider the "Minor Edge Splits" noted by PCGS Banknote which stand as something that should make only for a secondary consideration in the eyes of someone looking to find a particularly colorful example of this Friedberg Number for themselves. PCGS Banknote comments "Minor Edge Splits." Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
