Fr. 100. 1880 $10 Legal Tender Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.

Fr. 100. 1880 $10 Legal Tender Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. Representative of the short-lived Scofield - Gilfillan signature combination current between 1878 and 1881. This $10 Legal Tender Note represents the earliest entry for that denomination on the Series of 1880 and also offers a particularly impressive sight in technical terms. Here crisp margins frame long-standing elements of this design such as the portrait of Webster at left and the vignette at right variously entitled Introduction of the Old World to the New or Pocahontas Presented at Court while exceptional color and detail collectively offer a testament to uncommon eye appeal. Held together with the allure of this design often dubbed the "Jackass" in auction catalogs and numismatic reference material, bidders certainly have a foundational piece to build a fine collection around this popular design. Estimate: $1,500 - $2,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.
