Why does it look real? Because it is real stone! Ossatorum Aeterna is a company specializing in the creation of ultra-realistic replicas of dinosaur skeletons and other extinct or endangered animals. Using an innovative mineral-coating technique, our creations achieve an authentic, museum-quality appearance. This unique approach was born from a simple observation: painted replicas often lack realism, while traditional casts, although more faithful, often limit fine anatomical detail. Our hybrid technique combines the best of both worlds—accurately capturing anatomical complexity while reproducing the mineral texture of natural fossils. The result is a level of realism rarely seen outside professional museum collections. Item for Sale: Replica Skull of Jane (Tyrannosaurus rex juvenile specimen) Overall Dimensions (with base): Length: 55 cm Height: 43 cm Depth: 23 cm Discover a museum-quality, ultra-realistic life-size (1:1) replica of the Jane specimen—one of the most famous juvenile examples of Tyrannosaurus rex—crafted for collectors, paleo-artists, and enthusiasts who value scientific fidelity paired with a striking visual presence. About Jane (Tyrannosaurus rex) “Jane” is a remarkably well-preserved juvenile specimen of Tyrannosaurus rex, discovered in Montana and dated to the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 66 million years ago. This specimen has played a significant role in paleontology, offering valuable insight into the growth and development of tyrannosaurids. Unlike adult T. rex, which display massive, bone-crushing skulls, Jane’s skull is more slender and lightly built, with sharper, blade-like teeth and proportionally larger eye sockets. These features suggest a more agile and possibly faster predator during its juvenile stage, highlighting how dramatically T. rex changed throughout its life. Jane has also been central to scientific discussions regarding the distinction between juvenile T. rex individuals and closely related species such as Nanotyrannus. The skull captures a unique moment in the life of one of the most iconic predators in natural history—bridging the gap between juvenile agility and adult power. Key Features (Superior Craftsmanship) Weight and Stability With the base included, the skull weighs 1.3 kg. Its solid construction ensures a stable and secure display suitable for shelves, desks, or exhibition environments. Mineralized Hyper-Realistic Finish This piece has undergone a multi-step artisanal process, including a hand-applied mineral coating that replicates fossilized bone, natural weathering, and the fine textures characteristic of theropod skulls. For optimal presentation, directional lighting is recommended. Light enhances cranial openings, teeth, and structural details, emphasizing depth and realism. Exceptional Detail Surface textures and anatomical structures are reproduced with remarkable precision, faithfully capturing the slender proportions, dentition, and cranial morphology specific to this juvenile specimen. Museum-Grade Mounting The skull is mounted on a professional metallic support rod fixed to a solid base. Designed as a true display piece, it integrates seamlessly into both private collections and professional exhibition spaces. Material Polymer coated with Ossatorum Aeterna’s hand-applied mineral finish, made from carefully selected natural stones finely ground to reproduce the coloration and texture of authentic fossil material. Scientific Accuracy Based on verified paleontological data and high-resolution scans of fossil specimens, this replica is produced at 1:1 scale.
