In-4, red long-grain morocco, triple gilt fillet, decorated spine, interior lace, gilt edges on marbled paper (Hardy). First edition of this work on the great Roman Emperor Theodosius I (4th century), composed for the education of the Dauphin. Carefully printed, adorned with 4 headbands and 6 tailpieces engraved on copper by L. Cassin. Ex-libris by Lucien Jannin. Spine faded, hinges dry and creased, one scratch on the second cover.
