Publication:ÂLondon, Granada Publishing Limited, 1983 Formatting: 8vo, pp. [viii], 366. Condition Report Near Fine. A highly attractive, tightly bound copy in the original dark blue cloth, featuring brilliantly bright, unoxidised gilt lettering to the spine. The boards remain sharp and free of shelf-wear, with perfectly square corners and a firm, straight spine. Internally, the pages are exceptionally clean, displaying only the faintest touch of age-toning, entirely typical of the publisher's paper stock from this era, with no foxing, dog-ears, or heavy handling marks. The original dust jacket is uniformly bright and unclipped, suffering only minimal rubbing to the glossy black panels and a few superficial edge-creases to the spine extremities, presenting wonderfully in a protective mylar sleeve. Catalogue Note First UK Edition, first printing. This volume represents Asimovâs triumphant return to the Foundation universe after a thirty-year hiatus, brilliantly bridging the timeline of his iconic science fiction saga. Unsigned and unillustrated, this particular edition, distinct in its striking black and blue graphic jacket design, is surprisingly uncommon in such tight, unrestored condition on the open market. Glossy jackets of this vintage are frequently plagued by heavy rubbing, creasing, or laminate peeling, making a bright and well-preserved example a desirable acquisition for collectors. At last, the long-awaited continuation of the groundbreaking saga! The Old Galactic Empire has fallen into barbarism, and Hari Seldon's legendary master plan for the future is seemingly on track. The First Foundation has triumphed over its enemies and is slowly uniting the galaxy. But ambitious councilman Golan Trevize suspects a hidden, more profound manipulation at play; he believes the supposedly destroyed Second Foundation is not only surviving but secretly pulling the strings of galactic history. Exiled for his dangerous theories, Trevize embarks on a desperate quest across the stars to uncover the truth, plunging headlong into a cosmic mystery that will determine the fate of humanity.
