First Class Vintage Entourage Ring With Ruby & Diamonds in Gold, ca. 1970

This ring is designed as a classic entourage ring, with ten diamonds surrounding a beautiful, bright red, natural ruby like the leaves of a precious flower. Such designs have been known for a long time in jewellery history and are called entourage rings, from French "entourage" for escort, entourage. Rings in which a larger center stone is surrounded by diamonds were first in vogue in the 1600s - and since then it has been impossible to imagine the world of jewellery without them. In the second half of the 20th century, they became particularly popular once again. Kate Middleton, for example, also wears a ring with a very similar design and a sapphire in the center, which Princess Diana chose as her engagement ring from the then court jeweller Garrard in 1981. The ring we have here is forged from yellow gold that has been rhodium plated bright white in the area of the gemstones. It came to us from Zurich and, according to the hallmark, was made in Germany, probably in the years around 1970. It comes with a detailed certificate from the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation Idar-Oberstein, which confirms the quality of the materials.
