Fine 19th century one day marine chronometer by Brockbanks, London, No.836, signed 3.25" white enamel dial with Roman numerals, Arabic numerals outer minute track and a constant seconds dial, gold spade hands, signed brass full plate fusee movement with maintaining power, Earnshaw type detent escapement and Brockbanks steel three-arm compensated balance with a helical hairspring and diamond endstone, with a drum movement protective cover, in a brass case with sliding winding hole shutter and gimbal mount within a 6.5" square brass bound mahogany three-tier case with a vacant ivory plaque and with side carry-handles; complete with the outer guard box (with winding key and case key) ** Case ivory submission reference Q46KN6RQ ** Christie's, Highly Important Clocks, ex lot 8 5th July 1989 sold £1800.
