A beautiful and rare specimen of a Japanese Sōsaku (creative) Kokeshi doll, titled "Kasugano" (春日野). This masterpiece was designed and handmade by the highly respected and multi-award-winning artist Takashi Yoshida (1948–2007). The design of this particular doll is historically very important: in 1983 Yoshida won the prestigious Minister of Agriculture award during the national Japanese Kokeshi competition with this creation. The doll displays Yoshida's characteristic flowing and elegant style. The glossy deep black hair falls around her like a sleek cloak. The ochre-yellow kimono is beautifully adorned with refined engraved and hand-painted motifs of blooming plum blossoms (Ume), symbolizing resilience and the arrival of spring. Her serene expression radiates deep calm. • In good vintage condition. Has some light, superficial signs of wear/scratches in the lacquer (see close-up photos), appropriate for its age. No structural defects. A beautiful, authentic work of art and a valuable addition for any collector of Japanese art and design. No import charges when shipping within the European Union! The item will be carefully packaged and shipped. Please note that the packaging was done by a private individual and not by a professional service, so perfect packaging quality cannot be guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.
