Figurine - Bronze

Bronze car mascot on a green marble base. Titled "Spirit of the Wind" after René Lalique. In 1928 René Lalique chose to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the armistice of World War I with a car mascot named Victoire, intended to adorn the bonnets of the finest luxury cars of the Roaring Twenties. Also known as Spirit of the Wind, the design is Art Deco, and the stylized hair of an androgynous figure is blown back by the wind, illustrating the powerful sense of speed. It was used by the luxury French car maker Delage to adorn the hood — rendered in glass. Height 17 cm. Base diameter 10 cm. Weight 1.6 kg. The lot will be securely packaged and sent by registered mail and insured.
