Made in the 18th-century style, with embossed floral and scroll decoration, shaped four-lobed bases and decorative feet. The hallmarks indicate that the piece was made in Porto, Portugal, in sterling silver. The seahorse with 925 is the Portuguese hallmark for sterling silver and indicates an export item dating from 1985–2015. The shield with FMT is the maker's mark of Ferreira Marques & Irmão, Lda. The T refers to Topázio, the renowned Portuguese silver manufacturer based in Porto. The 925 with scales is the assay mark, confirming the sterling silver standard. The additional 925 is the fineness mark, confirming a silver content of 925/1000. Furthermore the candlesticks are imported to England as well.
