Felice trained at the local Academy, following in the footsteps of Giuseppe Bazzani, first, and then Giuseppe Bottani. In 1784, upon Bottani’s death, Campi was called to the Mantua Academy of Fine Arts, later the Virgilian Academy, as a professor of drawing.
