Lot title: Fabio Calvetti (1956) "The Last Moon" & "The Dream Night" - Pair of Works (Diptych) - 1993. Splendid and exclusive lot composed of two coordinated works by master Fabio Calvetti (Certaldo), 1956. A prominent figure of the new Italian Figurazione. Created in 1993, these two works display an extraordinary conceptual and compositional continuity, almost forming a narrative diptych on the theme of nocturnal waiting and dreaming. Work 1) "The Last Moon": Depicts a female figure lying on an armchair, characterized by a deep and sensuous neckline, immersed in an atmosphere suspended and Hopperian. Work 2) "The Dream Night": An item of exceptional collector’s interest, this painting depicts the imposing backrest of the same armchair present in the first work, creating a fascinating play of gazes, absences and spatial continuity between the two paintings. Technical data and signatures (Valid for both works): Technique: Mixed media (oil/tempera and others) on black paper, applied to painter's canvas. Paper size: 32x70 cm (each) Canvas size: 36x74 cm (each) Total size with black frame: 40x80 cm (each) Front 1) Titled at the top in italics "The Last Moon" signed and dated at the bottom Fabio Calvetti 1993 in white pencil. Back: the backs of the works do not present writings or signatures (common for the artist’s production in this format). Conditions: Both works are in excellent conservation status and are framed with geometric black frames intended to be hung side by side; a monographic catalog copy of the artist will accompany them.
