This is an antique vintage pocket watch with accompanying watch chain (Albert chain). Features of the watch Type & Design: A classic pocket watch with an open dial (open-face). It has a white enamel or porcelain dial with clean Arabic numerals. Small seconds: At the bottom at the 6 o'clock position there is a sunken sub-dial for the second hand (the small seconds). Brand/Inscription: On the dial there is a brand name or the name of a jeweller printed (such as "F.W. Rosenthall" or a similar maker). Case: The case shows a slight discoloration or patina, indicating a silver-plated, steel or alloy case that has aged through time. Chain & Attachment: The pocket watch is fitted with a metal link chain with a mousetrap-hook/ring and a sliding clasp (or clamp metal) at the end, intended to fasten to a waistcoat, vest or trouser strap. Estimated Period This design type with this specific typography and dial layout generally comes from the late 19th century to the early 20th century (circa 1890–1930). If you gently open the back of the case (or have an expert open it), you often find hallmarks, silver or gold stamps, serial numbers and the winding mechanism of the movement, which help better determine the exact year of manufacture and the maker.
