An early F.A.O Schwarz branded game board. Early 20th Century. Hand painted, with an original F.A.O Schwarz 39 and 41 W. 23rd Street locations label on the verso, which operated between 1897-1935. We have been unable to find another example of this game. The player would throw a bean bag, or rubber ball at one of the five (5) circles on the front of the board, which would drop the corresponding panel within revealing the score for that hole (from 10-100 points). The inner panels are returned to position utilizing a series of strings that emerge from the top of the board, the panels are held in place by a thin metal plate that provides enough tension until hit with a projectile. 20 x 14 3/4 x 1 3/4". Condition Minor paint loss due along the right side and bottom due to moisture damage. Minor chipping, scuffing, scratches, and soiling present. Water staining can be seen on the verso.
