ew Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A bronze embalmer's knife with a broad, strongly curved blade tapering to an upturned point. The handle is cast as a papyrus stalk, its stem set with riveted lapis lazuli inlays and ending in a crescent-shaped pommel inset with a further stone panel. At the junction with the blade is a recumbent jackal-form Anubis, modelled in profile above the grip. For similar see: The Louvre Museum, Main number: N 2116.
