Expressive Post-Impressionist landscape – Oil on panel – Signed A particularly vividly painted landscape with a walker on a country lane, surrounded by lush vegetation, characterful trees and rural houses with bright red roofs. What distinguishes this painting most is the powerful, impasto brushwork. The paint was laid on in full, energetic strokes. The impressive cloudscape forms an important part of the composition. Broad, flowing brushstrokes in white and various shades of blue create movement and a pronounced sense of space. In contrast, the warm ochre and rose tones of the country path, the fresh green of the vegetation, and the striking red accents of the roofs stand out. The small walking figure brings scale and life to the landscape and guides the eye toward the buildings on the horizon. The painting technique aligns with the post-impressionist and expressionist-inspired landscape tradition, in which not photographic accuracy, but color, light, movement, and the artist’s personal touch take center stage. On the bottom right there is a signature scratched into the paint. The name cannot currently be deciphered with certainty. The painting is set in a richly ornamental frame with deep relief, floral motifs, and a beautiful aged patina. The generous frame forms a particularly decorative whole with the colorful painting.
