Euphrosine Beernaert (1831-1901) - Dorf in der Flussaue

Euphrosine Beernaert (Ostende 11 April 1831 - 6 July 1901 Ixelles) was the daughter of a Minister of State. As a teenager, she received guidance from Ferdinand Marinus, the teacher of F. Rops and F. Roffiaen, among others. In 1849 she came to Brussels and takes lessons with P. L. Kuhnen and E. Van Schampheeler. 1850-56 travels through Europe, later she visits Spain, Norway and Switzerland. From 1854 she exhibited regularly in Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp, 1874-80 also in the Paris Salon. She was friends with Emile Claus and Théodore Baron. In 1881 she received the Order of Leopold, in 1885 a member of the Academy. Her works can be found in numerous museums in Belgium including Antwerp, Brussels, Courtrai, Ghent and Ixelles. Her most important motif is the landscape near Kempen. Neatly framed, very well preserved painting without defects. The date looks to me like 1869, not as stated on the artist's sign.
