This impressive Crystal Opal natural specimen from Ethiopia captivates with its extraordinary transparency, the warm, slightly honey-green to olive-colored base, and a particularly vivid play of color. Within the transparent to translucent opal body unfolds a fascinating blaze of colors in intense green, glowing blue, strong orange, yellow, and fiery red, which, depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle, reveal new color zones again and again. Especially impressive are the large orange-red flashes in the lower and middle areas, interwoven with intense green and individual electric blues, giving the piece extraordinary optical depth. The natural rough form with its characteristic irregular outer contour and the clearly preserved areas of the matrix or host rock underline the original character of this specimen. At the same time, selected areas have been carefully smoothed and polished, making the underlying opal structure stand out particularly clearly and causing the play of color to seem to glow from inside the stone. Through the combination of translucent opal substance, natural matrix, pronounced depth, and an exceptionally intense play of color, this is an extremely decorative and characterful collectible for lovers of high-quality Welo and Crystal opals. A particularly fascinating natural piece whose effect is mainly revealed under targeted lighting and, with every change of viewing angle, presents a different play of color—from rich neon green to turquoise and blue to spectacular fire colors in orange, yellow, and red.
